Scott LaPierre

"Why does a wife need to submit?"

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands." Ephesians 5:22-24

"What is one of the main ways a husband can mistreat his wife?"

"And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? And why do you not eat? And why is your heart sad? Am I not more to you than ten sons?" - 1 Samuel 1:8

"Whoever sings songs to a heavy heart
is like one who takes off a garment on a cold day,
    and like vinegar on soda.
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat,
and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink,
- Proverbs 25:20-21

"How does a man get the wife he prepares for himself?"

"Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish." CH OnAir Broadcast: Gospel Powered Parent/Child Relationships, with Paul Washer

After becoming a believer during university studies and then receiving a Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Theological Seminary, Paul Washer moved to Peru. He founded the HeartCry Missionary Society in order to support Peruvian church planters, but it now supports indigenous missionaries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Eurasia, and Latin America. Paul serves with the HeartCry Missionary Society. He and his wife, Charo, have three children: Ian, Evan, and Rowan.

Paul Washer will lead us through 2 Timothy 3:16 and Deuteronomy 6 as the foundational texts on which we set our marriage and cultivate our children's conversion and sanctification.

He will help us understand that our primary goal as parents must be for our children to understand and build their lives upon the gospel (conversion).

He will show us how to demonstrate to our children all of the ways in which the gospel transforms our lives and actions, especially with regard to personal relationships, grace, and mercy (sanctification).

He will help us learn how we can create and cultivate relationships with our children, both collectively and individually.

And he will help us see that the relationship between a husband and wife is the example, whether good or bad, for all relationships in our homes: Parent to child. Child to parent. Sibling to sibling.

You won't want to miss this power packed hour!

Helping small children focus on the things they do have, rather than the things they don’t, encourages hearts of gratitude and comes with the benefit of reducing fussiness. It even works on adults!

CH OnAir Broadcast: Walking with Your Sons on the Journey to Manhood, with Craig Houston

Houston LVB
Play

Dear Fellow Dads,

I love my boys – all five of them – and I want the very best for them. I want them to grow up to be mighty men who fear God, and God alone. But I also want them to be tender, humble, self-sacrificing men who lay down their lives for others.

Sometimes it’s tempting to look for a special formula that will guarantee our sons will turn out exactly as we envision. There isn’t a special formula.

I’m convinced, however, that there is a special journey. This is the journey of a father walking beside his son into manhood. This is the journey of a father giving his heart to his sons, with the desire for their hearts in return.

This is the journey I’m seeking to walk with my five boys. And if you desire to walk this journey too, I’d like to invite you to listen to the recording of this Christian Heritage OnAir Live Video Broadcast recorded on August 5, as we explore:

  • How we can give our hearts to our sons, and truly make the effort to gain their’s.
  • How we can build trust with our sons.
  • How we can help our sons reach their full potential, acknowledging their unique natural gifts, spiritual gifts, personalities, and passions.
  • How we can train our sons to understand the importance of work and diligence.
  • How we can lovingly chasten our sons as our Heavenly Father chastens us.
  • How we can teach our sons to love God and others, preferring others better than themselves.
  • How we can give our sons the opportunity to exercise leadership….and fail in the process.
Dads, this world is an unfriendly place for boys who want to become godly men. Let’s not let make them walk this road alone.
Your Brother in Christ,
Pastor Craig Houston
