Voddie Baucham, Jr., (Grace Family Baptist Church/Voddie Baucham Ministries) is a husband, father, pastor, author, professor, conference speaker, and church planter. He currently serves as the Pastor of Preaching at Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, TX. Voddie’s area of emphasis is Cultural Apologetics. - KEYNOTE:
Education and Worldview
It is impossible to separate education and worldview. In fact, the main purpose of education is worldview discipleship. Unfortunately, many home educators have come to believe that worldview is a subject to be taught in the late teen years before a child goes off to college. That is a terrible mistake! This session will examine the central question, “What is a worldview?” and demonstrate how every aspect of our home education, from beginning to end, is crucial in forming our child’s worldview. We will examine the main competing worldviews of our day and show how government education has served as a principle exponent of neo-Marxism and secular humanism over the past one-and-a-half centuries. - FAMILY NIGHT KEYNOTE:
Teaching Your Children with Your Grandchildren in Mind
I am surprised at how many homeschool kids aren’t sure whether or not they are going to educate their own children at home. I am even more surprised that some are sure they won’t. Further examination usually reveals a complete lack of any theological or philosophical reflection on the topic. Their parents simply did what was best for them at the moment; not what was best, period. In this session, we will examine key theological and philosophical motivations for home education, and how to pass these on to our children. Do your children know why you homeschool? Do you? Do they have a ‘big picture’ perspective on the impact home education can have on our culture for the sake of the Kingdom? Do they understand what government education has done to the culture at large (or that it has been intentional)? Are they thinking about ways their marriage, educational, and career choices will impact the education and discipleship of their children? We will look at the way our approach to educating our children figures into the scenario, and the kinds of things we need to encourage our children to invest in now so that they can invest in their children in the future. - KEYNOTE:
Don’t Let Home Education Destroy Your Marriage
Some homeschool families come to the end of the road and find that when their children left home, so did any pretense of a relationship between mom and dad. The demands of home education had so consumed them that they forgot one another. They gave all they had to and for their children, and made no effort to invest in their marriage. And sometimes, the results are devastating. In this session, we will talk about the theological and practical importance of a strong marriage as the foundation of home education. We will explore ways to make time for our marriage, and why it will benefit not only us, but our children in the long run. - KEYNOTE:
The Role of the Father in Home Education and Discipleship
Many homeschool dads view their role in home education as little more than providing the money to buy curriculum each year. The results of such passivity, however, can be devastating. Marriages are strained, homeschool boys are feminized, moms are frustrated and isolated, and feminism often exploits the opening. As a result, the homeschool movement is in jeopardy of being feminized altogether. While you may not be able to do anything about the big picture, you can (and must) do something about your own home. This mandate, however, must be observed in light of the overall view of the home laid out in the Scriptures. This session will explore how dads can be more than just sideline spectators (or worse, bullies who demand results and threaten to pull the plug if their kids don’t get up-to-speed). Dads will learn how to cast vision, set goals, offer support, and get involved. Moms will learn how to apply the principles of 1 Peter 3:1-6 in ways that encourage their husband to assume his role as leader in the home without using manipulation or guilt. - Workshop:
Family Worship: The Forgotten Home Discipleship Tool
Two hundred years ago, a man could be excommunicated from his church for failing to lead his household in regular family worship. Today, a man can become a pastor without ever having engaged in the process. What happened? Why do so few families engage in family worship? And what’s the big deal, anyway? In this session, we will learn about the history and theology of family worship and its importance in the life of every Christian family. We will look at practical ways every family can institute this vital practice. - Workshop:
Bible Study Basics: How to Study and Teach the Bible at Home
What good is home education if the Bible is not central to all we do? Moreover, how can we teach the Bible if we don’t know how to interpret it properly? Unfortunately, many homeschool families are simply stuck when it comes to the Bible. Should we just buy a Bible curriculum and be done with it? What about our family devotional time? How do we equip our children to handle the Word for themselves? In this session, we will examine the basics of Biblical hermeneutics in a way that is accessible. We will also learn about some key tools that every Bible student needs to have, and a few that can be dangerous if used the wrong way.
- Post-Conference Support Team Banquet Address: The Future of Home Education
(By invitation only: speakers; special guests, CH volunteers, qualifying donors)
From increased regulations to infiltration and sabotage, state and local governments are continually encroaching upon the rights of home educators. What does all of this mean? This address will focus on key obstacles home educators face and strategies to deal with them effectively.
Allen Wolfe
Allen Wolfe (www.balancingthesword.com) transitioned from accounting to language arts in order to teach “The Bible as Literature” at the University of South Florida. The 12-credit, senior-level course gave birth to his Balancing the Sword, a comprehensive study guide of the entire Bible. In conjunction with these books, Allen developed the BTS Reading Planner software. Today Mr. Wolfe acts as proprietor of the world’s largest homeschool speaker database. He also speaks frequently at churches, homeschooling conventions, and men’s conferences with the desire to cultivate in others a deep love for the Scripture.
- KEYNOTE:
Retaining Influence Amidst a Million Competing Voices
Is your desire to raise children who are anchored in the faith and full of zeal? The Bible gives guidance to parents on how to train sons and daughters to have contagious passion coupled with a robust intellectual foundation. Please do not let your children become part of the statistics of attrition! - Workshop:
When Dad Doesn’t Lead, What’s Mom to Do?
How can you help without becoming his leader? Frustration, exhaustion, and pride can stir a wife’s less-than-Biblical reactions and worsen the situation. Can your family afford for you to do nothing? Join Allen Wolfe to discover specific answers. - Workshop:
The Foundation of All Learning: All Knowledge Must Begin and End in Submission to God
BOOK of books from the KING of kings. There are 1189 chapters in the Bible, most of which remain unstudied. Scripture contains, however, the crown jewel of all knowledge, the only truth with eternal consequences. No subject mastered among men approaches the glories of the Bible in the faintest degree. And God has entrusted to parents the daunting responsibility of instilling these precious pearls of understanding into their children. Allen Wolfe offers parents encouragement and easy tools for giving their children a comprehensive, working knowledge of the entire Bible, literally chapter by chapter. Challenging to adults, attainable to children. - Workshop:
Family Wealth
Generational poverty or wealth is customarily accompanied by specific behavior. What does the Bible teach us about building and managing family wealth? In this presentation, Allen Wolfe will combine his financial understanding as an accountant with specific guidelines as a Bible teacher. Most education is for future occupational opportunities. Let’s get to the heart of long-term family wealth. - Workshop:
Rough and Rugged: The Quintessential Man
Set the crosshairs upon the essential qualities of manhood. This presentation will address topics from martial arts to adventures, from fitness to extreme self-discipline in the face of pain. When society raises soft, boyish men of pastel colors, godly families will train sons who are warriors built rough and rugged. As eagles were created to fly, men were created to live strong. Don’t miss your calling!
S.M. Davis
Dr. S.M. Davis (www.solvefamilyproblems.com) is a nationally known speaker at churches and conventions across the U.S. and in other countries. Many of his messages give Biblical solutions to critical family problems as well as help in foreseeing and avoiding problems. He is the pastor of Park Meadows Baptist Church in Lincoln, Illinois, where he has served the Lord faithfully since 1975. Dr. Davis has been married to Rae Jean since 1969 and they have four wonderful daughters, who with their husbands are all actively serving the Lord. At present the Lord has blessed them with twelve grandchildren.
- Workshop:
Anger: The Destroyer
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus pointed out that anger leads to murder. Probably the #1 thing that is spiritually killing the children in Bible-believing homes and churches is the anger of one or both of the parents. Anger also destroys the oneness between a husband and wife. Many parents think their wrath is justified by their children’s disobedience and rebellion. Dr. Davis explains, however, that your anger isn’t caused by what is outside you; it is caused by what is happening inside you. In this session, you will learn that anger usually comes from either pride or tension from unresolved guilt. - Workshop:
What to Expect of a 12-Year-Old
The reason parents have problems with some teens is that those teens have a deficiency in their earlier character development. In this session, we will discover from Luke 2 that Jesus, by age twelve, had developed seven qualities necessary for true maturity. - Workshop:
Hard Work: The Foundation of Character
The first occurrence of the word “work” in the Bible was not in relation to man, but was in relation to God Himself. Work is godly because God is the original worker. Laziness is ungodly. Work is foundational because God began everything by working. The very first thing God did for Adam was to give him work to do. To get Adam ready for Eve, God gave him more work to do. We gather from this that a man who is not a hard worker is not ready to get married! When Adam disobeyed God, he not only created a sin problem, he also began a character crisis. To deal with that crisis, God increased the amount of work that man had to do. In this session, you will learn that one of the main ways you develop character in children is by training them to be diligent workers, using their hands to do hard work. - Workshop:
The Three Key Elements of Parenting
Generally speaking (though there may be some exceptions), if a child chooses evil as an adult, it is probably because his parents failed in some way to properly train him as a child. In this session, Dr. Davis will be discussing the 3 key elements in successful parenting that work together to help parents produce wise, godly children.
Phillip Telfer
Phillip Telfer (www.mediatalk101.org) is the founder and director of Media Talk 101 which he began in 2005. He is author of the book What Wouldn’t Jesus Do? Mr. Telfer has served for several years as co-pastor of Living Waters Fellowship in Bulverde, TX. He and his wife Mary have been married for 20 years and home educate their four children.
- Workshop:
Media Choices: Convictions or Compromise?
Need help for raising children in a media-saturated society? Are you concerned about the impact of video games, Facebook, YouTube, iPods, texting, television, and more? Do you feel as if you are cowering like Israel before the giant Goliath who continues to mock God and taunt the nation? Have no fear; there is help to be found in God’s Word. This workshop will teach you how you can fight the media giant in your life using Biblical principles instead of legalistic rules. - Workshop:
Regaining Focus in an Age of Digital Distractions
For over 60 years, American culture has had an ever increasing infatuation with electronic media and entertainment. A handful of thoughtful skeptics in the past contemplated the long term effects on family, society, and individuals. Now we are reaping the consequences as more and more studies confirm what some had rightly predicted: our ability to be attentive is steadily eroding. We are becoming less attentive to our families, study, work, and most importantly, to God. What are the results and what will it take to regain the ground that has been lost? - Workshop:
The Counterfeit Life: Entertainment’s Deceptive Messages about Life to the Fullest
Today’s entertainment has become one of the biggest stumbling blocks of spiritual growth and family health in this generation. It often portrays deceptive messages about what it means to live life to the fullest. Many careless homes have allowed toxic media to poison hearts and minds with wrong ideas about relationships, accomplishment, purpose, and identity. Learn about the messages prevalent in today’s media that could rob you and your family of the real life that God wants you to have. - Workshop:
Understanding Biblical Worship in the Age of American Idol (atry)
We don’t think of our culture as idolatrous because we don’t see people bowing down to statues and making sacrifices and offerings to false gods. Our understanding of idolatry is too narrow and our understanding of true worship is also becoming more and more confused. This workshop looks at the Biblical understanding of genuine worship in contrast with mankind’s tendency towards idolatry, which continues to manifest itself in our entertainment-driven society. - Workshop:
Analyzing Movies & Other Entertainment from a Biblical World View
Many websites today are dedicated to providing movie reviews, but do you have a Biblical framework for personal analysis and discernment? Are you teaching your children the importance of analyzing electronic media in conjunction with teaching them to analyze the books that they read? Entertainment is not neutral. All media has a message, and those messages can have an impact in our lives for good or for bad.

- Workshop:
The Final Approach—How to Coach Anyone in a Family Setting or in a Business
Most parents have a very difficult time when children move into the “teenage” years, and most books on parenting deal with this issue more than any other issue. The idea that children become rebellious when they turn 13 is certainly false; most Christian parents, however, are still losing the battle. Whether in a family setting or in a business, understanding how to coach someone is one of the most critical skills a person needs to learn. Steve Riddell is an expert in teaching and training business leaders, entrepreneurs, and yes—even parents, on how to coach someone for radical performance improvement… and for the “coached” to enjoy the processes! Based on Biblical concepts found in the life of Jesus, Mr. Riddell will show you step by step how to improve your relationship with those you have authority over, by teaching you how to become a “world-class” coach. As a result, the standards of performance, ability, skill, and loyalty of your “followers” will be raised. - Workshop:
Resolve to Become the Leader You’ve Always Wanted to Be
Have you ever wondered why some people succeed in business ventures, but the majority fail? Steve Riddell will share a personal testimony of how a seemingly “chance” encounter with his father’s old trunk in the attic completely changed his life. His father was a Colonel in the Air Force and went to Officer’s Training Academy to prepare himself for leadership. He would have no idea how that training would transform his son’s life and provide him with a road map for success 25 years later. Steve Riddell is successful in both corporate business environments as well as entrepreneurial ventures, having run a billion dollar enterprise for Compaq to establishing one of the top consulting and training firms in the U.S. Understanding the essential skills required to develop leadership qualities for success can help you in your daily work life, home life, and spiritual life. The failures of most families and businesses can usually be tracked back to a failure of leadership. Don’t let this happen to you! - Workshop:
The Secret “Selling Skills” Most People Don’t Know
When most people are asked the question, “Do you sell?” the average response is usually a quick, “no!” When further questioned, most people usually describe salespeople as pushy, slick, quick talking, and assertive. What they don’t realize is that “selling” is something each of us does on a daily basis. We just don’t like to think of it that way. This session will teach you how to capture the good side of selling skills and use them in everyday life to your advantage. Steve Riddell will show you how he took Biblical concepts and developed the top sales training programs in the United States and Canada. These skills have been taught at some of the largest organizations in North America, and earned him the “1 to 1 Innovator Award for Excellence” for his work with Ford Motor Company. He will provide you with a small set of skills that, if you learn and apply, will have an enormous impact on everything from finding a job to establishing a business enterprise. You won’t want to miss this exciting and life changing presentation. - Workshop:
How to Develop the Capacity to Have an Effect on the Character, Development, & Behavior of Anyone!
Would you like to better understand human nature and the “hot buttons” that make responding in a given way almost irresistible? As an entrepreneur or a consumer, would you like to know how you are being manipulated based on human behavioral tendencies, and how to defend yourself from these methods? Steve Riddell will be covering these behavior-based techniques in this exciting and fast paced session. According to Mr. Riddell, these “hot buttons,” developed as “short hand” methods of social behavior, actually work for us most of the time. These behaviors can be exploited to get us to take actions that may not be in our best interest. The Bible warns us to “be on guard” against those who would attempt to deceive us. The task of the ethical entrepreneur, sales person, or organization is to use these techniques to help people take actions that are good for them. Having this knowledge, though, carries the responsibility of using it with good moral judgment. Mr. Riddell will be able to arm you with 6 secrets of influence and how they can literally change your life. You don’t want to miss this session.

- Workshop:
Brain Organization—The Key to Learning
Learning is more than having a loving, supportive home. Learning is more than having the “right” curriculum. Learning is more than attitude or aptitude. Development has a systematic hierarchy or pattern. Following this pattern will organize the central nervous system. Altering from it will produce a multitude of symptoms, which often then receive a label. The organization of the brain is by far the most important step to learning. Discover how to help your children build the foundation for neurological organization and thus open up efficient, easy learning. - Workshop:
Birth to Six—The Most Important School Years
Home education begins at birth. All too often, the first six years are not considered home school years. For every hour you spend specifically working with your preschool child, however, you will save five or more hours in later years. Learn how to guide your child in his early years to put him in the best position for learning. - Workshop:
When There Are Challenges
You can “teach to your child’s learning style.” You can teach to their “right brain or left brain.” You can teach all your children through a specific curriculum or a unit style approach. You can be very eclectic in your teaching choices. You can teach all together or give each child his own teaching time. But what do you do when, despite all you have done, there are still challenges? What do you do when NOTHING seems to work or make a difference? We can give you answers as to why this is occurring and help with the correct direction to go. - Workshop:
Don’t Live with Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD—Overcome It
It is a myth that Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, and other learning disabilities are permanent conditions you must live with your entire life. It is a myth that they are diseases. Usually the only help given are measures for coping or compensating. The truth is, these labels are nothing more than neurological disorganization. If it is disorganized, it can be organized. If it can be organized, the symptoms can be improved and often totally eliminated. Don’t live with the devastating effects of these labels… learn how to eliminate them!

The Bible has many references to astronomy within its pages. Learn about the Mazzaroth, Orion, Pleiades, Wandering Stars, the Bright and Morning Star, and much more! This very important session will help you to properly interpret many passages of Scripture. - Workshop:
Classical Astronomy
Before telescopes, spacecraft, spectroscopes, lunar modules, space stations, and space probes, there was a thriving science of astronomy that relied completely on math and visual observation. This is the Biblical form of astronomy that everybody who lived during Bible times knew. Learn how to recover and restore this once widely-known scientific field. - Workshop:
Distant Starlight
How do we see distant starlight in a young universe? This is the most common question asked to “Young Universe” astronomers. This presentation provides a fresh and honest approach to answering this puzzling question.

Principles of Leadership & Ways to Impact the Culture
What are the four principles of leadership? What does a Christian leader look like? How do they behave in high stress situations? In this session, you will learn the Biblical basis for “serving by example” and that leadership is not the ability to compromise, but the ability not too. This will include Rep. Shea’s real life personal examples of leadership in different situations from combat in Baghdad, Iraq, to the floor of the legislature in Olympia, Washington. Learn how effective leadership must be Holy Spirit led and Christ centered, being less about ability and more about availability for God’s plan in your life.

His company had become a known name in the Anti-terrorism / Force Protection arena and has trained over 15,000 military and law enforcement personnel, with offices in Washington, Connecticut, Hawaii, and Japan. With a love for business, Monty opened a marketing company and built a team of experts in web development, programming, writers, Search Engine Optimization experts, and graphic designers. All of his businesses are home-based and always have been. He recognizes the joy of operating a home business may not be available to everyone and at every season of life and business development but believes it is a goal worth pursuing and one that he hopes he can help others envision and achieve
